Day 2 – Room to Breathe
What if you are exactly where you need to be, in this moment now. What if you let go of the berating voice that yells when you fall short of your ideals. What if it turned out to be the best thing ever that you got that flat tire in the rain? Because it delayed you and you missed the big accident on your route home or you met the love of your life. What if missing what you thought was an incredible opportunity, only meant to wake you up and say, “Keep your eyes open for when the really important opportunity comes your way.”
Remember, when you feel like it all should have been done yesterday, you won’t be able to think straight. Staying calm and present, and being happier actually helps your brain function better. (Sleep helps too, 🙂 I have to remind myself of this one. I just picked up a “Namastay in Bed” t-shirt because it is adorable, have you seen these shirts? But staying in bed is not my cup of tea. I like action packed adventures! And slowing down, making room to breathe, and letting go of perfectionism is tough!
But amazing things happen when life doesn’t go as you perfectly planned. I had an art teacher who used to reframe the ‘mistakes’ that were made in art. She pointed out, that often it’s the mistakes that turn out to be the best part of the piece.
Today’s practice has a fun and challenging pose that I build you up to. If you focus on perfection, you will force the experience, and it will be tough to find your balance. Play with this practice! Be lighthearted! And just do your best, not perfect. There are modifications offered and you can always decide to watch and be entertained for now. Remember, every amount of effort you put into your practice will come back and serve you many times over.
